Speed Read is a great way of helping students to memorize a text, and of getting them reading and understanding quickly and accurately.

Word Invaders works in the same way as the normal Invaders, except that it takes words from the text rather than letters.
Students have to click the words in the correct order to fill the word gaps in the text segment that appears in the text box. Text segments are selected randomly from the whole text.

Textivate was launched in August 2012. (Time flies...) It was launched as 'beta' and was free for anybody to use.
It's no longer free, of course. But it's no longer the same resource as it was back then...
Here's what we've added since the beginning: (note that items are listed in reverse chronological order rather than order of importance)
You may be aware that we've recently added the facility to embed an image or a video to appear alongside textivate activities?
(No? Here's some info about embedding videos. And this post is about embedding an image.)
Well, it occurred to us that you could add a parallel text to a textivate resource and have this appear alongside your activities. This would allow for all sorts of possibilities. e.g. guided translation & find the French / Spanish / German etc
We've now incorporated all of these extra features into a new "Extras" tab.
Just as you can add a video to your textivate resources, as explained here, you can now add an image to a textivate resource so that students can view it along with the activities.
As with video and audio embedding, there are 2 methods:
1. Via the "Extras" tab
Simply click on the Extras tab and type or paste the link to your image in the "Image url" box.
