Pregnancy and birth (KS3 science text - paragraph sort)

The exercise embedded below is based on a short text about the development of the embryo / foetus during pregnancy and what happens during birth. It demonstrates the "Paragraphs" activity, which is accessed via this button on the textivate menu screen:

The Paragraphs activity only appears if there are more than 3 line breaks in your text. Although it is called Paragraphs, you can in fact create the activity by placing line breaks (ie. click in text and press return) at key points in your text, or at the end of clauses or sentences.

Click below to access the activity. (Opens in a new window on touch devices.)
Click here to open the above activity in a new window.

Note that the maximum number of tiles that can be displayed is 12, and the minimum is 4. Textivate will sometimes combine paragraphs where necessary to reduce the number of tiles, either because there are more than 12 separate paragraphs, or because the font size is too small with a higher number of paragraphs.

You can change the number of tiles visible on the screen by clicking the +tile or -tile buttons (these do not appear if limits have been reached).

You have the choice between checking answers using the "Check" button or enabling "Auto check", which means that answers are automatically checked after you drag a tile into position.

Click on the textivate.com image at the top left of the screen to access the front page for this text (and then click on "textivate now" to access the other exercises based on this text).

Hope this helps.
